Sept Practice highlights

I made a compilation of practice highlights from September, it has a good mix of elements I have been working at. Some of it is trick practice and combos, some of it is just feeling out rhythm and movement. Making the edit really gave me much to think about as it shows Ive made plenty of progress but still have a long way to go. I learned that I don’t move as well inside because of being afraid of smacking the ceiling light, I’m also still repeating favorite movements but I think I realize now thats ok because they are my flow starters and although it can get annoying to keep working through them over and over, they are what gets me grooving and eventually a new move pops out when I relax and keep with it. Also I think I’m ready for doubles now, I had a fear that it would be too difficult to work at two hands when my single chuck skills where still low but now I have hit a point where I believe it will help break repetition and lead to new ideas. Next time I post a video hopefully I will have longer combos and some doubles to show but for now- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PS-RetxwRJg&feature=youtu.be

  1. Great job jay. Man, your behind the back catch is great.
Every single clip is something new and different. You’ve got a great variety of moves, and yeah… I can’t wait to see where you take this. You’re going to kill the game man! That’s fantastic!

  2. You’re totally ready for double chucks. Your play is clean and your single handed tricks are well controlled. You have a great technical style of flow and I like how close to yourself you keep your chucks. I have no idea what you mean about your single chuck skills not being good enough! But if you personally don’t feel good enough, then I’m curious about what good in your book looks like, because you’re already awesome! Keep it up, and I’m anxious to see what you pull out next!

    1. Thanks for the vote of confidence Devin and also the awesome critique 🙂 I work alot on keeping movement close, its really cool that you noticed that. I think I get my personal standards from martial artist type spinners because they blow my mind with their proficiency and execution of maneuvers, I want my flow to have a nice blend of fighting style mixed with tricking and theatrical performance. There was a handful of moves I felt i needed to get locked down before adding doubles into the mix, I have a crude theory about muscle memory and believe it would have confused my brain and slowed down progress if I tried learning too many new movements all at once. Thanks for your feedback and encouragement I appreciate it 🙂
